TECH LEAD · FULL-STACK · CONSULTING · PRODUCT
I start with people.
I build products people actually like to use. The user sets the direction, the north star sets the goal. The tech makes it real.

How I think about software
I build software because creating things excites me. Making something out of nothing that makes people's lives easier. To me that is a bit of magic.
You don't notice good software. It never gets in your way. As simple as a door handle, as fast as a light switch.
My order is always the same. Vision first, the north star. Then the user: what do they need to get done, and what is the shortest way there? The tech comes last. It makes the vision real, but it never leads. Start with the tech and you build a solution, then go looking for a problem. That is exactly how blockchain failed.
I build best in a team. With people who want to crack a problem as much as I do. When the users are happy in the end, the job is done.

What I build on my own
The clearest tell for how someone works is what they build without being asked. Two things I am on right now:
Paperwork, filed and found again. An iPhone app that reads and sorts receipts, letters and vouchers. Everything runs on the device, no account, no server. Idea, design and code are mine.
hefted.dePlanning poker for sprint planning. Free, no signup, real time. Built with the stack I like: Java, Spring Boot, Angular.

Thoughts
Now and then I write down what is on my mind about software, teams and products.
Nothing here yet. The first piece is coming.
Background
About me
I'm Michael, a software developer from the Mannheim area. For more than ten years I have been building web apps, mostly full-stack, often as a lead or architect. I started with Java and Spring. TypeScript, Angular, React and lately a lot of AI came on top. In the end I don't care about the language, as long as I get to work cleanly.
If you want to build a product people enjoy using, let's talk.
